Smile to Your Heart Workshop

We've long been told to "follow our heart"--that this is where the truth is kept. And whenever we have feelings of peace, calmness or joy, it's experienced not in our head, but in our heart. So what makes the heart so special? How can our heart help us in our daily life? What is the spiritual meaning of the heart?
The Smile to Your Heart Workshop is an easy, step-by-step workshop that teaches you how to open and enjoy your spiritual heart. The workshop is about 5 hours long and is based on the best selling book; Smile to Your Heart: A Simple Meditation for Peace, Health, & Spiritual Growth by Irmansyah Effendi.
Whether you have meditated for years or never before, Smile to Your Heart Workshop is a simple and accessible practice for anyone seeking deeper meaning in life, or just a more peaceful way to go through it. All you have to do is relax...smile...and enjoy!
We are meant to be happy.
That has always been an original and true intention of this life, which we instinctively realize (remember) on some level. In fact, if you look at the motivations behind our thoughts and actions—conscious and unconscious—they’re all to get us closer to the feeling, or at least the idea, of happiness.
Yet many of us fail. In spite of our worldly successes and social relationships, we often feel lonely, empty, as if something is missing. Even when we experience happiness, it tends to be more of a brief touch than a lasting embrace. We seem to slip back to a lower plane, a place of wanting, again and again.
Psychologists, economists, poets—and, most importantly, you—have long asked why. But, for all of the scholarship and human insight across the centuries, nobody has found a complete and enduring answer. Perhaps because it’s been too close to see…
The answer, the truth, is our heart. Not the physical heart that beats in our chest, but our spiritual heart, which is the key connection between us and the Creator / True Source (Source of our true selves / spirit).
We’ve been told throughout our lives, from parents and priests alike, to “follow our heart.” Why? Because, even without us realizing, our heart knows the truth. Our heart feels True Source’s Will—which Loves us completely, and always wants the very best for us. This has been written in countless holy texts, across virtually all religions, since the very beginning. Only recently, however, during this new period of spiritual awakening are we really beginning to remember the meaning of directing our heart to True Source for support, guidance, and Love.
In opening and using our heart, we’re blessed with a lasting peace and happiness that we can feel—actually and really feel—as we go about our daily lives. Once we begin to trust our heart instead of our head to make better decisions, to enjoy life experiences, and to heal our mind and body, we not only find effortless happiness in what we do, but we also improve and strengthen our connection to True Source so naturally and beautifully.
Now, in this dawning age of spiritual growth, many of us have begun the process of shifting the priorities in our lives. Perhaps we’ve already opened our heart well enough to start directing ourselves—even our whole self and our whole life—to True Source. We may now be praying more often, giving to the poor, volunteering, doing good deeds, and so on. Have we done it the best, though, according to True Source’s Loving Will within our heart?
But shouldn’t acts like praying daily and helping the needy be enough? Aren’t these a clear sign that we’ve opened our hearts, and are living already according to True Source’s Will? With all of the temptations and obstacles we face in our modern and hectic lives, how can this not be proof?
Ah, but True Source wants us not to simply open our heart, but to open our heart completely to True Source: To experience the bliss of unconditional Divine Love, every moment of our lives, for every being. Which is why it is also written in holy books that praying and doing good deeds are not enough; they must be done from the heart, with all of our love. Charity and devotion, while beautiful, don’t automatically arise from the love within our heart.
Yet it’s hard enough at times to open our heart at all, much less open it completely. Do our efforts count for nothing? Of course not; opening your heart even a little bit is wonderful spiritual growth. But the Love of True Source is perfectly complete and pure. For us to return Home—which is the ultimate destiny of all spirits—we have to surrender entirely to the Love. Gratefully, our hearts already want to do this, and are only waiting for us to allow it.

~ Irmansyah Effendi, M.Sc.
